"I have always had curiosity to discover different ways to nourish our connection to our own body, through all kind of physical practices and therapies. Being a dancer has given me many opportunities to observe the processes our bodies undergo to heal, as well as testing how to be helpful to that adaptation. We are not a body separated from a mind, even through our mind can have a dysfunctional connection to our body. Our bodies are beyond the capacity of our intellect fully grasping it's intelligence... it's simultaneous complexity and simplicity is just astounding.
In my personal therapeutic approach I first try to understand the mobility and flow of energy through a body, detecting stagnation and instability. I can usually see this right away but I better understand it in movement. I like to start by having a conversation and a walk, for example to a park. Activating, loosing and shaking the body bare-feet on the grass is not a very orthodox therapy, but one that your body is thankful for. Even though I would do this in wintertime as well, that would not be necessarily the approach with an untrained person.
For recovery and improvement I use a mixture of strengthening and proprioception from martial arts, dynamic massages (not lying passively), spine decompression through hanging upside down, isometric compressions, callisthenics, myofascial release, breathwork, tapping, cupping, acupuncture mats, infrared light, my own plant-oil blends and primarily tuning forks.
One line of work is the stimulation of flow of the liquids in our body, by generating internal heat through exercise, in combination with breathwork, followed by cold-therapy and deeply relaxing sound- and aromatherapy.
